The Story So Far
I’ve loved art for as long as I can remember. At school I was awarded art scholarships and went on to study Art History and Studio Art at Anglia Ruskin University – exploring everything from drawing and painting to sculpture and printmaking.
After graduating, I wasn’t sure how to turn my passion into a career, so I moved into graphic design and spent over 20 years creating adverts, brochures, logos and magazines. It scratched the creative itch, but something was missing.
During the pandemic I decided it was time to pick up a pencil again. A small box of pastel pencils led to a flurry of pet portrait commissions – a lovely way to reconnect with art, though I found myself craving more freedom. That’s when I turned to the sea.
Inspired by the Suffolk coast, I started painting seascapes, and something clicked. These pieces resonated with people and helped me rediscover what I truly love about making art.
A huge turning point came when I lost my mum. Amid the sadness, I had the chance to build a little studio in my garden – now the heart of my creative life. It’s filled with colour, energy (and dogs) and it’s where I now spend my days painting, designing and preparing for workshops.
My art continues to evolve as I explore different styles and subjects – from coastal scenes to wildflowers and woodland hares. I also run relaxed, beginner-friendly art workshops for those wanting to reconnect with their own creativity. It’s such a joy to share the process with others.
I regularly take part in exhibitions and events across Suffolk – so keep an eye out, or pop by and say hello.
